Jim Huey’s 1989 Jeep Wrangler Build Up
This Jeep is a perfect example of a well built daily
driver. Jim has been a long time customer of many
years. He used his expert welding skills and took
his time asking us questions along the way and WOW
look at the results. The engine is a 454 built
mildly with all the goodies to make it look nice.
Cooling is done via Advance Adaptors Aluminum
Radiator. As you can see the exhaust is routed
perfectly around everything including catalytic
converters for PA Emissions Laws. The headers were
custom built by Jim himself because there are none
available for this install. The clutch, throttle
linkage, and fuel delivery system are all done with
the correct components for safety and durability.
The engine is mated to the AX 15 using AA components
and flywheel. Tom Wood Shafts are putting the power
to the axles. The Jeep sits on BDS 3.5 inch springs
via spring over axle. A host of accessories makes
this Jeep even more fun to drive and an awesome
looker as well. This Jeep is a joy to drive it stays
cool and with out a doubt plenty of power. Hats off
to Jim Huey to an awesome build and thank you for
letting us help. The Apple Hill Team
Make: 1988 Jeep YJ 4.0 Ltr.
This was a home built rig that turned out really
well and we were glad to be able to help the
transformation from stock to a truly off road
capable Jeep. Adam started with Dana 44 axles front
and rear with 4:56 Gears and lockers. He then
transplanted a 4.0 Liter Engine and Transmission out
of Cherokee to better power and off camber
situations. The front and rear bumpers and roll cage
Adam built himself and did one hell of a job. The
frame off build contains many cool things to make
this Jeep one nice machine. Of coarse it has an
Apple Hill Custom Exhaust System. Great job Adam see
you out wheeling.
